Pink Wrapping Paper

Stimulus: Pink Wrapping Paper

Part One
Small, insignificant and crinkly.
What would life care for me?
Thin, papery and rough,
Just like life's evil and wicked machinations,
The bleak, cold wing forces its strength
On my weak edges,
Never quite in,
Always seems out,
The flush of my pink cheeks showing.
What is my purpose?
I'm barren - and insignificant.

Part Two
A warm gentle hand picks me up,
Ruffles and soothes my frozen, broken skin.
Against a colourful wall I now stand,
Besides a Christmas tree,
Some tinsel and bells,
Around a pleased and happy family...
And softly I fondle the gifts of the season.
