Pinball

Rocknroll the ball will flick

And land into your hand but before

You have to understand that there are stars

And there are wires underneath

So measure out

If you please

Your force

And fling the ball into another flashing gate

And wait before it falls

Back to the ground state

And send another message

See what game this is?

Send it and stay

The heavy sphere metal if you please

It flashes past and 'Ding' it hit

The button in your ears will ring

Ding ding ding ding

Backwards and forwards

On its way

To meet me

'Hey'

You have one new message'

'Main menu'

'To listen to your message

Press one'

Not even one megabyte

Press one

Or a noticeable quantity

Press one

It could cause a war

Press one

Or create a tsunami

Press one

And it did

We had paper swords of origami

And floods were caused by water guns

Press one

The message runs

We're less than three but more than

Gigabytes

We're dust mites

Giants

After a game of pinball

Kings and queens

Of endless phone calls.

Messages

Are bosons, you said

Packets or reflective

Metal balls

Flicked back and forth

Like heavy words.

Unsaid

Unplayed

Left heavy in the cavity

Of spare supplies

Truths and lies

Played like a pack of cards

Dealt with a witty hand

The humour of which I am only

Slowly learning

To accept

and understand.
